In total 10 cars, representing a wide cross section of the Jaguar Marque, attended on Sunday. Of special interest was a 1956 D Type and a Series 3 E Type which joined us for the day.
After meeting at Zenders Café on the outskirts of Hamilton, we set off on a short trip to Waitakaruru Arboretum and Sculpture Park in the hills at the back of Cambridge. This is an old stone quarry site that has been rehabilitated with over 20000 trees and has over 100 pieces of artwork spread throughout the bush pathways.
The group enjoyed the walk around the 2km loop track – where we even managed to spot a Jaguar (made from copper) creeping up on an unsuspecting lamb in the bushes. From the quarry we travelled back to the other side of rural Cambridge via some undulating country roads which gave us the chance to stretch the legs on the cars again, to have lunch at Lilli-Pad Art Café. This was a further opportunity to get to know the other members of the club.
A special thanks to Jenny and the other ladies of the club for organising this event – some who also took the chance to push the blokes into the passengers seat so that they could enjoy driving the jag for the day.
