Awakeri Rail Tour

Great day out on Saturday at the Awakeri Rail Tour. We had a good group of 10 cars travelling together, stopping at Mamaku Blue Winery near Rotorua for breakfast and then toured around the top of Lake Rotorua and then down towards Whakatane through the lakes. The group enjoyed a three hour scenic tour along an old rail line in carts, stopping at various points, including stopping to feed some chickens. We also took a walk through some native forest and then stopping for a BBQ at a small rail side encampment.

This was great fun and highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore the region. A number of people also stayed over night at the Awakeri Hot Springs and enjoyed the pools and some socializing before heading back to Hamilton on Sunday.
